Adwebvertising Increased Security
Adwebvertising recently encountered numerous attacks to our client sites and had several of our sites defaced by malicious hacker attacks. The affected sites were temporarily disabled; however, thanks to the quick response of Jason M. Stanley our C.T.O., our client sites were restored with minimal delay (usually within 10-20 minutes after the attack). Because of these recent attacks, Jason researched some solutions to enhance our security protocols and provide added safety to our client websites.
One of the biggest changes was the implimentation of Cloudflare which is a welcomed addition to the Adwebvertising services.
CloudFlare essentially protects and accelerates all of Adwebvertisings client sites. By incorporating the CloudFlare community, our client sit web traffic is routed through a robust and intelligent global network of fellow webmasters. Each site we manage is automatically optimized and the delivery of our clients web pages gets the fastest page load times and best performance around. Our clients sites are now protected from threats and we are able to limit abusive bots and crawlers from wasting their valuable bandwidth and server resources. The result: CloudFlare-powered websites see a significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks.
The beauty of this addition to the Adwebvertising Web Security Protocol is that the CloudFlare system gets faster and smarter as our community of users grows larger. Our new security feature is designed to scale while helping power and protect the entire Internet.
There is no hardware or software to install or maintain and we do not need to change any of our clients site’s existing code.
Our new CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a proprietary technology that takes advantage of recent changes to hardware, web server technology and network routing. In other words, we are tapping in to the next-generation CDN. The result is a CDN that is easier to setup, more affordable, and performs better than any legacy CDN on the market.
The hardware behind our security protocol is built from the ground up, which means that each component is carefully and purposfully selected down to the chip level. The proprietary software that runs our security allows us to process millions of requests per second efficiently. The network that we are on is an independent network, so we choose the exact location of our edge nodes—the most strategic points on the Internet. This is essential to ensure that our clients visitors get the fastest page load times and best performance.
Our new CDN reduces hops and lowers latency. On average, a request is fewer than 10 hops and takes less than 30ms. The result? Our clients websites gain a global presence without astronomical increases in pricing.
With a global CDN that has 13 edge nodes around the world, our CDN automatically caches our clients static files at edge nodes so these files are stored closer to their visitors while delivering their dynamic content directly from our web servers. Our new protocol uses a technology called Anycast to route our clients visitors to the nearest data center. The result is that our client websites, on average, loads twice as fast for their visitors regardless of where they are located.
On average, a website on our new protocol loads twice as fast for its visitors, sees 65% fewer requests and saves 60% of bandwidth. We are actually able to see the exact speed benefits and savings with personalized analytic reports for each of our clients sites.
Nick Covanes (C.E.O) commenting on the new security said, “We are fortunate to have Jason Stanley on our team. His astute observations and borderline paranoia (when it comes to Internet security) has been a benefit to our clients that will have a lasting impact and improve our customers reliance on our services. When Jason approached me with the idea of implimenting cloudflare into our business security protocol I knew that our clients were in for something good. ”
While this may not mean a lot for Adwebvertising clients (since we rarely have any issues as it is), it means a great deal to the Adwebvertising team who have been made stewards over their client websites. On the subject Jason Stanley commented, “I like to stay behind the scenes, because in reality that is where all the action is. If I can help our clients by providing a useful solution then I am going to do what is in their best interest. Even if we don’t get the ‘pat on the back’ at least we can rest easy knowing that our clients are protected…even if they are blissfully ignorant to what we might be protecting them from.”
